While my passion for local art began at a young age in India, my first brush with Ceramics was in Singapore, when I was looking for a new art form to explore. The deep impression that pottery left on me, led me deeper and deeper into the world of clay and to start my studio ‘Laal Maach’. With years of experience in the field, my pieces regularly explore the contrasting aspects of nature. I use the extremes of the color palette to address this contrast.

I believe that my early upbringing around nature in India, be it at the foothills of the Himalayas, the unique North East, the sand dunes of Rajasthan or the lush South India, has influenced me as a person and has inspired my art. I experienced the changing faces of art as I lived and travelled across the subcontinent. The most beautiful ideas often emerge from the simplicity and uniqueness of one’s surroundings. My guiding tenets are, use what is available locally, and draw inspiration from what is in front of you.

My techniques and my love for the art has been strengthened through years of interaction with the older generation of ceramicists, who shared their rich experiences, whether about the art or about their learning journey.

Ceramics is a lifelong journey for me. A journey, that  has just begun
